Tim Peake at Techniquest – All rights reserved space made simple
On Thursday 13th October, Tim Peake flew from Houston to Cardiff to start his 10 day UK post-flight tour. Techniquest were delighted to be the first stop on his tour, inviting members of science centres, universities and even some primary schools that have taken part in Tim Peake-related projects.
At space made simple, I run the Mission X (Train Like an Astronaut) and the Is There anyone Out There? schools outreach programmes. I have been delivering these workshops as well as CPD teacher training events to primary schools across Wales and Gloucester, as part of the UK Space Agency’s Tim Peake Primary Project. I was extremely lucky to be invited to be part of this one-off, history-in-the-making event.
The CEO of Techniquest, Lesley Kirkpatrick and the First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones, welcomed Tim and showed him around the various exhibits. They were excited to show Tim the new robotic arm they had installed, just like the Canadarm onboard the International Space Station, only a little smaller. Everyone enjoyed watching Tim having a go at operating the arm with the help of a primary school pupil. ...
