Video: LROC Stereo Global Topographic Model

Traverse from the highest point on the Moon to the lowest point in this LROC WAC video.

This video was created from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) using the wide angle camera head (WAC) to provide images at a scale of 100 m in seven color bands.
LRO’s Mark Robinson, gave an invited talk “Exploring the Moon with LROC” at the NASA Lunar Science Forum held at NASA Ames Research Park in Moffett Field, CA. The audience was stunned by the beauty of this video and the special experience of following LRO on a tour of the Moon.
LRO is currently orbiting the Moon as part of an extended NASA Science Mission Directorate to address important questions in lunar science. LRO is in a polar lunar mapping orbit, performing investigations designed to facilitate a human return to the Moon. The spacecraft is equipped with seven instruments, including:
Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC),
Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (LOLA),
Lunar Exploration Neutron Detector (LEND),
Diviner Lunar Radiometer Experiment (DLRE),
Lyman-Alpha Mapping Project (LAMP),
Cosmic Ray Telescope for the Effects of Radiation (CRaTER) and
Measurements from LRO are providing much-needed information about the surface of the Moon, potential landing sites for future human and robotic missions, the location of potential lunar resources, and much more.
