That's because the Breakthrough Listen project has been using Australian and U.S. radio telescopes to hunt for signals from other star systems. It's backed by Yuri Milner, a Russian billionaire who's put $100 million toward the 10-year project - and, over two years, Breakthrough Listen have identified 11 signals thar are worthy of a closer look.You won't need that tinfoil fedora just yet though: The team think these are probably just odd natural signals.
