Last year, a crazy rocketeer built a flying model of an ekranoplan. Forward mounted tractor motors and a canted cluster...what could go wrong. That rocketeer doesn't know since he hasn't had a chance to fly it yet. But he saw this airplane in the latest issue of the IEEE Spectrum and started getting more insane ideas...Reinhardt Engineering TU 523 VTO freightlinerThis spring, Reinhardt will fly a 1:4 scale version on a 60 day, multi-country test flight. If the aforementioned ekranoplan flies successfully, maybe an even smaller version of the TU 523 might fly in the summer. Naw, probably not, but crazy rocketeers are allowed to dream.
