Question: Sir What is the name and sky position (RA and DEC values ) of the recently discovered ” Super Earth” at the outer edge of the solar system? Many thanks. — Bill
Answer: First of all, note that this “discovery” is highly controversial. Most experts in the study of the properties of our outer solar system doubt the veracity of the author’s claim that the object in the reported measurements is a super earth. In any event, the position toward which the research authors claim that there is a super Earth in the outer reaches of our solar system is RA(2014-03-20) = 19h 15m 23.124s, Dec(2014-03-20) = -07d 02m 48.765s (note the epoch of the position measurements). There is certainly going to be more research into this claimed detection, including follow-up measurements to attempt to confirm the existence of this outer solar system super Earth.
