Now it’s Vincenzo Giorgio, Thales Alenia Space.
Astronomers are working at the forefront of science, with great difficulties but also great rewards. Herschel and Planck, developed by Thales Alenia Space (TAS), are incredibly ambitious projects but are working beyond expectations.
In 2009 TAS contributed to ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimetre / submillimetre array. Other highlights include BeppoSAX (x-ray observatory) and INTEGRAL, which has opened a new era in gamma-ray astronomy.
Science programmes are long-duration, often taking place over decades. TAS is playing a major role within the development of EXOMars. TS hopes to continue helping to unlock the secrets of the Universe.
