Dr. Ceridwen Fraser and the story of Steamy Volcanoes: Dr Ceridwen (Crid) Fraser is a researcher at the Australian National University (ANU) who specialises in biogeography and the evolution of species in the Southern Hemisphere. Her work is of value for astrobiology because she studies how climate change might affect the future of life on Earth - altering distributions and survival. She also focuses on some unique environments frequented by astrobiologists who study life’s potential in the Universe - namely cold, high-latitude, sub-polar and polar ecosystems.
Recently, Dr. Fraser led a team that discovered steam and heat from volcanoes may have allowed plants and animals to survive during ancient ice ages on Earth.
