A Chinese Long March 4C launch vehicle launched the Yaogan 19 satellite into a sun-synchronous orbit at 0331 GMT on 20 November from the Taiyuan launch site in China. China publicly announced that the satellite would be used for civil earth observation purposes. The Yaogan series of satellites are assessed by Western analysts to be used for military reconnaissance missions. The satellite is thought to be carrying an electro optical imaging system.
