A Russian Rockot launch vehicle launched the three Swarm satellites at 1202 GMT on Friday 22 November from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Northern Russia. The three identical Swarm satellites which will be used to explore the Earth’s magnetic field. All three satellites deployed from the Briz KM upper stage and all three have made radio contact with a ground station in Svalbard, Sweden.
