SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk has posted an image of a leg to keep us space cadets interested. Sadly the leg concerned is not one of his lovely actress partner (and former wife), Talulah Reilly, nor of his talented and charming No2 at SpaceX, Gwynne Shotwell, but was actually one of the landing legs to be flown on the next Falcon 9V1.1 flight.
The first stage of that launch vehicle, to which four of these legs are attached, will not attempt a landing this time, but will instead again try and restart the engine to mimic the deceleration burn need for such an approach and landing. Eventually SpaceX wants to fly first stages, and possibly second stages on a fully reusable basis.
